Brooke Massenburg is a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. She has experience working with adults, teens and youth both individually and in family counseling. Brooke has a passion for working with mothers, whether newly postpartum or years into motherhood. She has advanced training in perinatal and postpartum mood disorders. Brooke also has advanced training in ERP (exposure response training) for OCD, which is often common in the postpartum population. She is licensed in Virginia and has been working in private practice since 2023. Brooke has a history of working in community mental health and hospital settings prior to private practice.
Brooke graduated with an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Virginia Wesleyan University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Liberty University. She has experience working with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, and disorders related to trauma as well as those experiencing difficulties related to relationships and life transitions. Brooke has lived experience as being a prior military spouse for 14 years, allowing her to truly understand the challenges military spouses face at home and during transitions directly related to the military.
Brooke is passionate about integrating a holistic approach into the counseling experience acknowledging that spirituality, physical health, and relational stress all play a role in individual mental health. Brooke uses a range of techniques and theoretical approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Counseling, and Biblical Counseling when requested.
Above all else, Brooke strives to create a positive therapeutic relationship so that her clients can work through issues that may be preventing healing, inhibiting growth, or contributing to relational stress.
